Historical Notes

The cover features actress Eileen Huban, who came to the United States from rural County Galway with her mother in 1915. Although she had no prior experience in the theater world, her singing caught the attention of noted Irish-American actor Whitford Kane at an Irish pageant.

Theater director David Belasco ordered a rewrite of Kane's comedy Dark Rosaleen to highlight Huban's talents. This song was inspired by her appearance in the production.
