Historical Notes
Original penny ballad handbill that laments misfortunes at home, high rents and taxes, the ninety-eight uprising, the famine of forty-eight, and other difficulties that have driven Pat to leave home. Second half of the song details English injustice and Pat's desire to return home with a Fenian band. In air of Podges and Rhu and sung by J.S. Berry. Border is of De Marsan "comic-types": four heads of stereotype characters.
