Historical Notes

Comic vocalist, author, and composer Harry Sydney (1825-1870), was associated with the first Oxford Music Hall and later became manager of the Philharmonic. After leaving the Philharmonic, he fulfilled numerous starring engagements in the provinces. He died at the age of forty-five after a short battle with Bright's Disease.
